Briefly stated CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements completed at high intensity.
CrossFit Praus is not your ordinary fitness club, which is based on the volume of clients moving in and out the door. Instead our focus is on trainer led, highly intense strength and conditioning classes which are effective because of the unique sense of community at “The Box” (as it is known due to the big empty space void of traditional fitness equipment).
This is no place for ear buds and machine controlled movements…we crank up the stereo and push each other past our preconceived margins; making this the sport of fitness, and a place where fears are shelved and barriers are shattered. Where we cheer the hardest for the last finisher! It’s a place where your competitors are your biggest supporters, and where we welcome you if you can complete 50 pull-ups in a row, or if the thought of one pull-up makes you run the other direction!
The Sport of Fitness can be described by: Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels which support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, squats, presses, clean, jerk and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, handstands, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Keep workouts short and intense. Routine is the enemy. Intensity is relative. Everything we do is functional and repeatable in nature. (Slightly modified from CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman)
